As January 1st 2017 in Ontario Canada, all chain restaurants and cafes have to indicate calories. I think this is a good idea to get you to be more conscious about your health.
For example, I was going to order chestnuts latte (270 cal) but changed my mind to Americano (10 cal). My daughter also changed her mind from hot chocolate (320 cal) to herbal tea.

To maintain a healthy weight, you need to balance the amount of calories you consume through food and drink with the amount of calories you burn through physical activity.
To lose weight in a healthy way, you need to use more energy than you consume by eating a healthy diet with fewer calories while increasingly your physical activity.
I wonder if some places will lose money if people become more calorie conscience. The employees at the coffee shop said so far so good.
